Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
Find your specific breathing pattern to rapidly heal your body, and rewire your anxious brain for a calm one.
HRV is simply a measure of the variation in time between each heartbeat. This variation is controlled by a primitive part of the nervous system called the autonomic nervous system (ANS). It works regardless of our desire and regulates, among other things, our heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and digestion. Testing HRV serves the purpose of you “evidence” of how your body is responding to stress, and how it may be subsequently degrading your health.
Here at the Advanced Health Clinic, we have a highly sensitive EKG machine that measures many things, including Heart Rate Variability. HRV is one of the fastest-growing phenomena being studied in medical science today. Heart rate variability measures the minute variations in intervals between heartbeats. This shows us the balance between the sympathetic (fight/flight/freeze) and parasympathetic (relaxation/repair) parts of the autonomic nervous system. With all the stressors of modern-day life, we are finding that most people are stuck in the body’s fight-or-flight response. This is not a good place to be. Researchers at Harvard and Stanford Medical School conclude that being stuck in this perpetual fight/flight stage is the cause of 90-95% of all diseases. But we have figured out how to turn off that response to modern-day stressors. We use this HRV test to help find a specific breathing pattern for your body that most quickly turns off the fight/flight system, thereby activating a rapid repair and deep relaxation response.
We teach you how to habituate this response. We are finding that after a few months of breathing at this specific rate for your body, the DNA expression is changing in the body, so people process stressors in a fundamentally different way. The gray matter in the amygdala (the brain’s fear center) shrinks, and the body no longer switches into fight or flight when modern stressors are experienced.
This is exactly what is needed in this day and age.
The test is quick and painless and can change your life forever. It takes about an hour, including 15-20 minutes of practicing your body’s breathing pattern.

This breathing pattern is a lifesaver. Prior to doing it, I used to pull all kinds of muscles and occasional palpitations. I had every type of massagers you can think of and massage salons I visited often. Whilst I still enjoy a relaxing or deep tissue massage, I no longer go for those massages for pain relief. Thank God!! I feel calmer most of the time and less stressed as a result. When I feel stress coming on or going to a stressful situation, I just breathe. Anyone, who wants great health at no cost but discipline, should do it! I tell people I meet all the time. It is a matter of choice really. I choose to be healthy and fit and this for me is a very easy, no-cost, and enjoyable way to stay healthy. Thank you so much for this life-saving and changing experience you introduced me to. – VS
